THE PAGEANT
The Teen, Miss, Ms. & Mrs. Bakersfield Pageant is a local out reach program and has been directed & produced by GT Productions for the past twenty nine years. It is so much more than pretty faces & tiaras and welcomes all Bakersfield women to participate! It takes place each January, where four women from our community are selected from a group of contestants to serve as city hostesses for one year. This program is a sisterhood, focusing on building self esteem and community service!
Prizes, local appearances, personal training and the opportunity to represent Bakersfield as a city hostess a various events are awarded. Judging is based upon poise, personality, overall physical appearance and speaking ability. All contestants in the Bakersfield Pageant receive training in interview technique, fashion co-ordination, make-up & hair styling, public speaking and self-image evaluation during the four weeks of preparation and rehearsals.
The director is Gayle Tape, a resident of Bakersfield, former Miss California & Runner-up to Miss USA. She has been directing & producing pageants for over 42 years with a background in television journalism & credential in Fashion Coordination & Modeling. Gayle’s goal is to encourage each contestant to live up to their full potential and to compete only with themselves.
Requirements for (Teen & Miss) contestants are to be single females, never married or a parent, between the ages of 14-25. (Ms.) Contestants are single females over the age of 25 . (Mrs.) Contestants must be female, over the age of 23 and married at least 6 months. All contestants must reside, work or attend school in Bakersfield.
